The Quebec authorities says it needs 77 per cent of the power consumed within the province by 2050 to come back from renewables, up from the present 48 per cent.
Vitality Minister Bernard Drainville made the feedback as he introduced the province’s 25-year useful resource administration plan in Varennes, Que., northeast of Montreal.
Describing the aim as formidable, Drainville says by 2050 Quebec’s share of power from fossil fuels will drop to 23 per cent from 52 per cent.

Getting there would require $87 billion of funding in things like upgrades to hydroelectric energy crops and in new wind, photo voltaic and bioenergy sources.
That cash is generally along with the $200 billion the province’s hydro utility plans to spend by 2035 to extend its capability and repair reliability.
Officers mentioned a small portion of the $87 billion introduced at the moment overlaps with Hydro-Québec’s $200-billion plan, however they couldn’t say precisely how a lot.
