Montreal police investigate after man, 31, stabbed in a park

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a man was allegedly stabbed in a brawl in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough Wednesday night.

The SPVM received several 911 calls around 10:15 p.m. reporting a person injured with a sharp object, near the corner of 20th Avenue and Villeray Street.

When officers arrived, they found the 31-year-old man in Gary Longhi Park with injuries to his upper body.

He was conscious when being taken to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

According to initial reports, a conflict escalated between several people in a park resulting in the stabbing, said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

Witnesses are being questioned, and police are looking for security camera footage in the area.

No arrests have been made. There were no other injuries.
