A vehicle parked in the private driveway of a Montreal residence was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning, prompting an investigation by the Montreal police arson squad.
Montreal police say they received a 911 call around 2:50 a.m. reporting flames on Louis-Darveau Street, near Marc-Aurèle-Fortin Boulevard, in the Rivière-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles borough.
Officers arriving at the scene found the vehicle engulfed in flames as firefighters were on their way.
Some residents were evacuated from the home as a precaution.
Investigators also found what police describe as incendiary materials at the scene.
No damage was reported to the residence, but the vehicle was destroyed.
The investigation has been handed over to the SPVM’s arson squad.
