Man allegedly assaulted with hammer in Pointe-St-Charles, suspect crashes vehicle

A 42-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with a hammer on Friday afternoon in a Pointe-Saint-Charles park – and a 21-year-old suspect then reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle and crashed into abuilding before being arrested by Montreal police (SPVM). No one else was injured during this event.

Officers responded to a 911 call at around 12:30 p.m. Friday about a fight in Marguerite Bourgeoys Park on Wellington Street.

Authorities say the victim was found with upper body injuries. He was conscious when transported to hospital.

The suspect is being met by investigators and police explain that there could be at least one more person involved in this case.

The 21-year-old was driving a Jeep with an Ontario licence plate.

The vehicle crashed into a garage door and bricks fell from the side of the building.
