A 34-year-old man was injured in an armed assault early Monday morning in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough, according to police.
Caroline Chèvrefils, a media relations officer, said police received calls at around 1:30 a.m. reporting that a person had been injured with a sharp object near the intersection of René-Lévesque Boulevard and Drummond Street.
When officers arrived, they found a 34-year-old man with injuries to his upper body caused by a sharp object.
The man was transported to hospital with serious injuries, but police said his life is not considered to be in danger.
Investigation underway
The circumstances surrounding the assault are currently unknown.
A perimeter has been established to protect the scene while investigators and forensic identification technicians examine the area and work to determine exactly what happened.
A canine unit was also called to the scene to search for evidence.
Police will also conduct checks for possible surveillance cameras located near the scene.
No arrests made
There have been no arrests in connection with the assault, and the investigation is ongoing.
