A 22-year-old man survived an attempted murder Friday night in Montreal.
Emergency services were alerted around 11:00 p.m. regarding a man shot in an alley near Crémazie Boulevard West, in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough. He was shot in the upper body and transported to the hospital, where his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
“Several shell casings and projectile impacts were found at the scene,” confirmed Officer Manuel Couture, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
“The suspects fled and the case is being treated as an attempted murder,” he said.
About 45 minutes later, police were called to the scene of a vehicle fire in Senneville, completely west of the island of Montreal.
The van was destroyed by flames on the Anse à l’Orme road.
“According to the Montreal Fire Department (SIM), incendiary materials were used. The investigation has been transferred to the arson unit (of the SPVM) which is checking for a possible link with the attempted murder that occurred earlier,” said Officer Couture.
No one was injured in the fire and there were no arrests.
