Quebec employers are forecasting 3.1% pay increases next year

Quebec employers plan to grant salary increases of 3.1 per cent on average next year, according to the 2027 salary forecast survey by the Order of Certified Human Resources Professionals released Tuesday.

This is the fourth year of moderation following the increases granted during the period of high inflation.

The survey reveals a gap between the expectations of male employees and the employers’ plan. Workers expect a 4.6 per cent increase, according to a Léger poll commissioned by the Order.

There is a significant gap between the agreements between men and women, according to the survey. Female workers expect, on average, increases of 2.6 per cent.

The gap between sectors is “relatively moderate,” according to the Order. The public administration is forecasting the smallest increases, at 2.7 per cent.

At the top, employers in public utility services (electricity and gas distribution, telephone services, water treatment, etc.) are forecasting growth of 3.7 per cent.

The Order’s salary forecasts were established based on surveys conducted by eight specialized firms. Together, they present the intentions of 1,300 companies located in Quebec.

For its part, the Léger firm conducted an online survey of 529 respondents from July 31 to August 3, notably to find out their salary expectations.

The Canadian Marketing Research and Intelligence Council states that a margin of error cannot be attributed to online surveys, as they do not involve random sampling of the population.
