About a hundred technicians and professionals from the head office of Santé Québec, who were not unionized, have just joined the APTS.
The workers, mainly planning officers who develop programs at Santé Québec, are now represented by the Alliance du personnel professionnel et technique de la santé et des services sociaux (APTS), after the Administrative Labour Tribunal accredited the union to represent them.
The newly unionized workers work in areas including homelessness, oral health, support for community organizers and youth frontline services, APTS president Robert Comeau said in an interview Thursday.
Although some have expressed a desire to see Santé Québec abolished, Comeau does not believe now is the time to impose another “restructuring of structures” on the health-care network.
