Quebecers could make history on Tuesday by winning the next Lotto Max draw: the jackpot will amount to $101 million with a grand prize of $85 million, a record since the game’s creation.
The Oct. 13 draw could also create up to 16 instant millionaires thanks to the Maxmillions prizes in play, in addition to awarding 85 prizes of $100,000, says Loto-Québec.
“Lotto Max has had some changes this year and the jackpot can now be as high as $90 million,” explains Renaud Dugas, spokesperson for Loto-Québec.
“Since the $80 million jackpot was not won Friday night, $85 million is up for grabs next Tuesday,” he explains.
The last jackpot was won in the August 21 draw and also had a historic feel when 49 people, who did not know each other, scooped the $55 million prize.
The members of the chance group, who come from 12 regions of Quebec, had all purchased at least one share of a winning ticket online under the Group Formula.
Among them was François Bissonnette, a resident of the Laurentians, who had purchased his entry just minutes before the draw, according to information on the Loto-Québec website.
To date, the largest amount awarded in Quebec is $70 million and has been won three times. The last time such a sum was awarded was in June 2022.
“We know that when the big prizes reach times like this, there is a surge of interest,” Dugas points out, stating that several families, colleagues and friends are working to form groups to try their luck.
