The Mercier Bridge is set to fully reopen in both directions Monday morning, after crews completed emergency repairs to a cracked steel beam over the weekend.
The crack, discovered Tuesday evening during maintenance work, measured about 30 centimetres, more than initially visible in photographs. Transports Québec said the bridge remained safe for motorists throughout the incident.

One lane on the Montreal-bound side had been closed since the discovery, causing significant congestion for commuters travelling from the South Shore. During the repair work, one lane in each direction was also scheduled to close.
The bridge connects Montreal with Kahnawà:ke and carries about 70,000 vehicles daily. The incident has renewed concerns about the aging structure, particularly its southbound section, built in the 1930s.

The toll on Highway 30, westbound, which was suspended on weekdays during the morning rush hour, has been reinstated.
Meanwhile, a temporary Route 744 bus service was introduced between Châteauguay and Delson to help commuters navigate the disruptions.
