Man, 32, dies after being run over by a forklift in Sainte-Thérèse

A 32-year-old man died Friday afternoon after becoming trapped and run over by a forklift while performing a maneuver in Sainte-Thérèse, in the Laurentians.

According to Julien Steben, an inspector with the Thérèse-De Blainville Intermunicipal Police Board (RIPTB), emergency services were called at approximately 5 p.m. to respond to a scene outside 217 René-A.-Robert Boulevard.

The victim was then transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Steben noted that the man was alone at the time of the maneuver and that, therefore, no one else was injured.

He added that a review of surveillance footage quickly confirmed that this was a workplace accident. Inspectors from the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) have therefore taken over the investigation.
