Two Montreal ERs facing high patient volumes, ‘consider other healthcare options’: MUHC

The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is urging those who do not require medical attention to consider other healthcare resources to help reduce pressure on emergency services.

The plea comes as emergency departments at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal General Hospital are currently experiencing high patient volumes.

The MUHC says various other health alternatives are in place, such as Info-Santé 811 to speak with a healthcare professional, your pharmacist (depending on your needs), your family doctor or clinic (if you have one), or the Primary Care Access Point (GAP), by calling 811, option 3, or submitting a request online if you do not have a family doctor.

Additionally, emergency departments are still open to everyone who needs medical attention; however, patients are assessed and treated according to the severity of their condition.
