
Montreal’s transit company says the “Go Habs Go!” slogan will return to some metropolis buses subsequent month after the provincial language watchdog licensed using the English expression.
The story made headlines final 12 months after the Workplace québécois de la langue française (OQLF) pressured the company to wash the phrase “go” from the digital screens on buses used to cheer on the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and different sports activities groups.

However the language watchdog reversed course after public outcry and a declaration by the province’s French-language minister that the expression “Go Habs Go” is a part of Quebec tradition.
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) says it hadn’t modified the messages till now as a result of the replace needed to be achieved individually for every bus in periods of upkeep.
The company says the phrase “go” needs to be again on some buses by March, whereas others will proceed to make use of the French “allez.”
The company says the selection of French or English slogans has been made in session with every sports activities workforce. Girls’s sports activities groups may even be included within the messages.
