Montreal police are investigating a suspected homicide after a 42-year-old man died following an altercation in the city’s Sud-Ouest borough late Wednesday night.
Police say they received several 911 calls around 11:45 p.m. reporting an injured man inside a residential building on Monk Boulevard near Pierre-Héroux Street in the Ville-Émard neighbourhood.

Officers arrived to find the victim suffering from multiple injuries. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

According to police, one or more suspects arrived at the scene and, for reasons that remain under investigation, assaulted the victim before fleeing prior to officers’ arrival.

The death marks the 13th homicide on Montreal police territory this year.
The investigation is ongoing.
