64-year-old man struck in Montreal assault

A 64-year-old man was struck in the head with a blunt object Wednesday evening in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough.

Montreal police said they received a 911 call around 7:40 p.m. after a man was found lying on the ground with a head injury near the intersection of Montcalm Street and Notre Dame Street East.

According to police, the man was allegedly struck by a male cyclist who fled the scene following the assault.

The victim was taken to hospital and is in stable condition, despite suffering serious injuries.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances and motive behind the assault.
