Céline Dion fans have plenty to be excited about this September. While the Quebec superstar is preparing for her highly anticipated return to the stage in Paris, Montrealers can get their own taste of Céline magic right here at home.
On Sept. 11, celebrity impersonator Jimmy Moore will take over Théâtre Saint-Denis for an evening celebrating one of the province’s most iconic voices — with the music, glamour and nostalgia that makes Céline a global superstar.
“Each time it’s been a huge success,” said Moore. “So I’m very blessed to present that to the fans.”
Moore’s Céline tribute was first produced in 2008 and has since become one of his signature performances.
“When I impersonate Céline, it’s all about love and strength at the same time,” he explained. “She’s very, very real as a person. And I feel blessed that I can impersonate her. It’s a big gift in my career.”
Moore has also been professionally impersonating some of the biggest names in entertainment since 1998. His repertoire includes Madonna, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Adele and Taylor Swift.
Earlier this year, Céline announced her comeback following time away due to Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare condition that causes muscle rigidity and spasms, which affects her ability to walk and sing.
After hearing the news, Moore explained that he wanted to offer Montrealers a chance to experience Céline’s music if they can’t make it to one of her 26 Paris shows, starting this Saturday.
Moore told CityNews that preparing to transform into the singer can take about two hours, with every detail carefully considered.
Now, as Céline fever takes over Paris, Montreal has its own opportunity to relive some of the singer’s biggest moments — without having to leave the city.
Jimmy Moore’s Céline Dion tribute show takes place this Friday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. at Théâtre Saint-Denis.
“I just love being on stage,” he explained. “I know I’m not the real Céline. I know I’m not the biggest drag artist known on the planet, but I’m just happy to live my dream.”
