As separatist sentiment swirls throughout Alberta, the nation has been holding it’s breath and questioning: “will we face one other separation referendum?” It appeared inevitable, as Premier Danielle Danielle Smith modified the principles to make placing a referendum ahead simpler.
However a courtroom resolution rejected their petition on the grounds that Indigenous peoples who can be affected weren’t correctly consulted. Smith has since introduced a compromise, of kinds: a referendum on whether or not or to not have a separation referendum.
