Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, Highway 40 to close overnight throughout week

Montreal-bound drivers using Highway 40 should expect overnight closures throughout the week as work continues on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge and the highway.

The closures, which began Sunday night, are needed for inspections related to the highway’s reconstruction, as well as leveling and paving work.

From Monday to Wednesday, Highway 40 eastbound, including the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, will be closed between Exit 35 and the entrance from Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants from midnight to 5 a.m.

Another eastbound closure is scheduled from Thursday at 10 p.m. to Friday at 5 a.m. between Exit 41 and the next entrance.

Tolls on Highway 30 will be suspended during the bridge closures.

The Highway 40 westbound service road will also be closed from Monday at 10:30 p.m. to Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. between Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants and Exit 40.

Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time while the overnight work is underway.

The work may be postponed depending on weather conditions.
