Before the lights come on at Parc Jean-Drapeau, the sound of country music will already be rolling through Montreal.
Ahead of its fifth edition, LASSO Montreal is bringing the festival experience beyond its grounds with “LASSO in the City” on Aug. 14 — a city-wide celebration featuring free performances, line dancing, workshops and country-inspired experiences across multiple venues.
The one-day event will give fans a chance to embrace the LASSO atmosphere before the main festival takes place Aug. 15 and 16 at Parc Jean-Drapeau.
A city-wide country celebration
Five Montreal venues — Riverside, Double’s, Brasseur de Montréal, Bon Délire and Spaghetti Western — will take part in the festivities, each offering its own take on the LASSO experience.
The free programming will include live music, DJs, dance activities, workshops, exclusive menus and specialty drinks.
At each participating location, one attendee will also have the chance to win a pair of passes to LASSO Montreal and experience the festival weekend.
From cowboy hats to country cocktails
The celebrations begin at Riverside, where country fans can start the afternoon with a line dancing introduction hosted by Girls Night and Winslow at 1 p.m.
Guests will also have the opportunity to personalize their own cowboy hats during a decoration workshop, while enjoying a special LASSO cocktail and music from a DJ.
At Double’s, the country atmosphere will continue throughout the afternoon and evening with a dedicated country playlist and a specially created cocktail inspired by the occasion.
Live performances take centre stage
As the day moves into the evening, Brasseur de Montréal will welcome country fans for free performances from Sarah Vanderzon and Kalsey Kulyk.
The performances will offer audiences a chance to discover live country music while enjoying LASSO beer available at the brewery.
At Bon Délire, the celebration will continue from 4:30 p.m. into the night with a country DJ, a LASSO-inspired menu and themed cocktails.
The final stop before festival weekend
The festivities will continue at Spaghetti Western, where guests can take part in line dancing, try a mechanical bull and enjoy a DJ set beginning at 10 p.m.
The evening will serve as the final country celebration before LASSO Montreal officially begins the following day at Parc Jean-Drapeau, where fans will gather for two days of performances and festival programming.
With “LASSO in the City,” organizers are expanding the festival experience beyond the main stage, turning Montreal itself into the opening act for one of the city’s biggest country music weekends.
