Man’s disappearance linked to suspected homicide in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts

Quebec provincial police (SQ) are investigating the suspected homicide of a man whose body was found in a Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts home Thursday.

The Sûreté du Québec says the disappearance of Mario Poirier, of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, was reported to police on Aug. 27.

Later that evening, officers found the body of a man inside a dwelling on Godon Street.

The SQ’s Crimes Against the Person Investigation Service says its investigation indicates the death may be linked to a homicide. The victim has not yet been formally identified.

An autopsy is expected to take place early this week.

Investigators are asking the public for information that could help advance both the disappearance and suspected homicide investigations.

Anyone with information can contact the SQ’s Criminal Information Centre confidentially at 1-800-659-4264.
