Montreal police arrest seven more suspects in break-ins of Sud-Ouest home targeted repeatedly

Montreal police say seven more suspects have been arrested in connection with attempted break-ins at a Sud-Ouest home that has been targeted multiple times this year.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) say five men and two women – aged 17 to 34 – were arrested last Thursday in Montreal, Longueuil and Toronto.

These latest arrests are linked to alleged attempted break-ins on March 9-10.

Four of the suspects, including two minors, appeared in court last week. They face several charges, including conspiracy to commit a break-in, breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, and attempted kidnapping.

The three other suspects were released pending further investigation.

A total of 10 suspects have now been arrested in connection with incidents at the same Sud-Ouest home.

On Jan. 28, police say an individual claiming to be delivering a package arrived at the home around 7:30 p.m. followed by three accomplices, two of whom were reportedly armed with guns. During that incident, a shot was fired, injuring a suspect, while a resident sustained a minor arm injury. The four suspects fled the scene.

On March at 3:15 a.m., police say two people wearing hoods appeared at the door of the home but were confronted by a security guard, and they fled.

Twice the following day, at 4 a.m. and again at 11:40 p.m., police say masked individuals returned to the scene in a vehicle.

“During the latter attempt, three suspects tried to force open the front door by kicking and ramming it with their shoulders. They were unsuccessful and subsequently fled. No one was injured,” police said.

On Oct. 7 at 1:45 a.m., Montreal police say five masked individuals broke into the home and fled in a vehicle after an alarm was triggered.

The SPVM says the investigation is ongoing.
