Thousands of people travelled to Paris over the weekend to attend Céline Dion’s concert, which will take place Saturday night at the Plenitude Arena.
Fans of the famous singer, who came from a multitude of places, traveled for the occasion.
Frédérique Lauzon and Alexandrine Derome, two Montreal women and flight attendants, notably took advantage of their stopover to buy last-minute tickets.
“I think she’s going to put on a spectacular show,” Derome assured. “I don’t have any expectations, except that I think she’s going to sing a lot more songs in French than in English.”
Derome will be attending her 24th Céline Dion performance on Saturday night: “I’ve seen her in Las Vegas, Montreal, Quebec City, Paris, and at the recording studios for special shows in Montreal.”
The Plenitude Arena will welcome nearly 33,000 fans of Dion on Saturday night, who had to show patience and determination to get their hands on one of these highly sought-after concert tickets.
“I fought hard,” says Elda Vauttier, 57, from the Yvelines department in France, about getting her ticket for the show. “Unfortunately, I only got one seat tonight, so I couldn’t bring my daughter, who is also a fan. But luckily, I managed to buy more for May.”
Vauttier, mother of a boy who lives in Montreal, has been a Céline Dion fan since childhood. She has previously seen her perform twice in Paris and once in Las Vegas.
“I experience all my emotions with her, happiness and sorrow,” explains Vauttier. “Céline is everywhere in my life. She is a beautiful person, a warm soul who gives her all despite her own problems. You can’t help but love her.”
Marie-Caroline Honnet attended her first Céline Dion concert on Saturday. She and her sister traveled from Caen in Normandy to share this moment.
“It’s a family passion,” Honnet emphasized. “It even spans generations, since even my niece is already learning Céline’s songs.”
Nicolas Enème came directly from Avignon in the south of France to attend Dion’s concert.
“It’s something extraordinary,” commented Enème, delighted to be able to attend the performance. “We thought we’d never see it again. Tonight is like a miracle.”
“I don’t have any particular expectations,” added Enème regarding the show. “Just that she enjoys herself and makes us happy, that will already be huge!”
After the cancellation of her last tour in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Céline Dion subsequently announced in 2022 that she was suffering from a rare autoimmune disease. A disease that prevented her from returning to the stage for a long time.
After 6 years without concerts, Céline Dion will give a total of 26 performances between this fall and next spring.
His last performance in the City of Lights was at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games in July 2024, where his interpretation of “Hymne à l’amour” illuminated the Eiffel Tower.
