A 63-year-old woman was hospitalized after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Montreal’s Lachine borough Sunday evening.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. reporting the collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Saint-Joseph Boulevard and 36th Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim on the ground with injuries to her upper body. She was taken to hospital by Urgence-santé paramedics.

“Medical authorities have confirmed that her life is not in danger,” said SPVM spokesperson Florence Stafford.

The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old man, was not injured.

According to initial reports, the woman was struck by the westbound vehicle as she attempted to cross the street, police say.

No criminal activity is suspected at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
