Quebec police officers and traffic wardens conducting province-wide operation on roads

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the road safety officers of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) are intensifying their interventions and awareness activities during a concerted province-wide operation on sharing the road, which runs until October 22.

The operation, which has the theme “We are all responsible for our driving”, aims to remind road users of the importance of respecting the laws and adopting behaviors that promote the safety of all, regardless of the mode of transport used.

“The diversity of modes of transportation on the road network is constantly evolving. We are talking about motorists, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians, as well as users of motorized mobility aids and motorized personal transportation devices,” said Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

Police forces and the SAAQ, in collaboration with the Quebec Association of Police Directors, reported in a press release that school zones and school transportation will be particularly monitored, “as children are among the most vulnerable users of the road network.”

“Let us remember that on a daily basis, everyone can be in turn a pedestrian, a cyclist, a user of a motorized personal transport device,” the document reads.
