Quebecer claims $1M lottery prize after forgetting about ticket for 8 months

Another Quebecer has become a millionaire after winning with a Célébration 2026 scratch ticket.

Dany Veilleux, a Chaudière-Appalaches resident, reportedly went to validate his ticket nearly eight months after the draw and discovered that his ticket was one of five $1,000,000 winning tickets from a draw on Jan. 11.

Veilleux reportedly purchased the ticket in December 2025 as a gift to himself, before admitting that he forgot about it for several months.

“The amount flashed on the screen so quickly that I thought I had won $100,000,” he explained.

Loto-Québec is reminding everyone that winning tickets must be claimed within 365 days of the draw.
