A Montreal restaurant was targeted by arson for the second time in two days, with a citizen stepping in Monday to help prevent the fire.
The latest incident happened Monday at a business on Jean-Talon Street near 22nd Avenue in the Saint-Michel district.
A citizen reportedly noticed the fire and took action, helping prevent the flames from causing more extensive damage to the restaurant.
The development comes just one day after the same establishment was targeted in an apparent arson attack on Sunday.
During Sunday’s incident, a suspect reportedly smashed a window at the business and attempted to start a fire. The suspect fled after being spotted by a citizen. Police later discovered incendiary devices at the scene, although no fire had broken out when officers arrived.
The Montreal Police (SPVM) arson section is investigating. Surveillance footage from the area could help investigators determine who was responsible for the attacks and whether the same individual was involved in both incidents.
No arrests have been made yet.
