Search underway for 60-year-old man at Stukley Lake, Quebec

A search is underway for a man in his sixties who went missing in the waters of Lake Stukley, located between the municipalities of Orford and Eastman, in the Eastern Townships.

The man, in his sixties, was alone when he left on a boat around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, but he never returned at the expected time. His disappearance was reported to the police around midnight, and a search was launched despite the late hour.

“The search was undertaken quickly with our partners from the fire department. They located the unoccupied boat on the lake around 1:00 a.m. this morning,” said Sergeant Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Reinforcements were called in to continue the search on Sunday, in daylight.

“Several resources have been deployed to locate the man. The Sûreté du Québec helicopter is participating in the operations, as well as the SQ divers. The search continues actively to locate the man in his sixties and shed light on the circumstances surrounding his disappearance,” Sergeant Deshaies emphasized.
