Three fatal collisions take place on Quebec roads overnight

Three people lost their lives, and several others are in critical condition following three separate accidents that occurred on Quebec roads on Saturday night, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) reported.

One person died, and the lives of three others are feared after a road accident in Franquelin, on the North Shore.

Emergency services went to the scene of this accident involving a vehicle at around 3:20 a.m., on Route 138 at kilometre 804.

“Four people were in the vehicle when the driver lost control of it, for a still undetermined reason,” said Valérie Beauchamp, spokesperson for the SQ.

The four people were transported to a hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead. The other three occupants of the vehicle are still in critical condition and fears for their lives, the SQ said.

The age and sex of those in the vehicle on Sunday morning were still unknown.

An SQ reconstructionist went to the scene. Two out of three lanes were still closed in the area.

Road accident in Saint-Tite-des-Caps

A 37-year-old woman has died, and a man in his thirties is in critical condition following a road accident on Route 138 in Saint-Tite-des-Caps, in the Capitale-Nationale region.

Emergency services arrived at the scene of the tragedy around 6 a.m. on Sunday.

“The driver was travelling in an eastbound direction when he veered out of his lane, and he would have lost control of the vehicle to roll over,” for a still unknown reason, Beauchamp said.

The two people in the car were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The passenger, the 37-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the hospital, while there were still fears for the life of the driver, the man in his thirties, on Sunday morning.

A patrol officer specializing in collision investigation was heading to the scene of the accident to analyze the scene.

One dead in Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse

A 35-year-old man died in a road accident in Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

Emergency services were called to Route 132 East, near Mistral Road, around 00:30 a.m. regarding this accident.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason before going off the road, Beauchamp said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A patrol officer specializing in collision investigation went to the scene to analyze the scene, and the road was reopened to traffic around 4:45 a.m.
