A person’s posture could affect their mood and their ability to make decisions.
That’s according to a study from Montreal’s McGill University.
“Though the effects were modest and observed in a laboratory setting, the results highlight the body’s influence on our mood and behaviour,” said Jorge Armony, the study’s senior author.
Armony and his team divided 200 participants into two teams. Some of them had a tablet on an adjustable stand and the rest had the tablet on a lower flat desk, which made them bend down.
Their next task was to take a risk-taking test. Those with good postures ended up taking more risk and felt better about their choices.
Armony says the study raises questions about whether elements of our environment can subtly influence mood and behaviour.
